Every year, more people and companies are turning to these unmanned aircraft for <strong>photography, videography<\/strong>,<a href=\"https:\/\/javiergomiz.com\/en\/photogrammetry-drones\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"3437\"> inspections, agriculture<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/javiergomiz.com\/en\/photo-video-drone-services\/dron-events-recording\/\" type=\"page\" id=\"1180\">events <\/a><strong>and even<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/javiergomiz.com\/en\/drone-show-mallorca\/\" type=\"post\" id=\"7786\">shows<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n<p>This growth means that pilots and operators must comply with current regulations, especially when flying over:<\/p>\n\n<p>a) <strong>Population centres<\/strong> with areas consolidated by building development;<\/p>\n\n<p>b) Residential, commercial, or industrial areas whose land cumulatively has at least road access, paved public roads for pedestrian access, water drainage, and public lighting<\/p>\n\n<p>c) <strong>Recreational areas that are open to the public<\/strong> and contain permanent or temporary structures or facilities for leisure, recreation or sport, including beaches that meet both requirements, as well as parks or gardens under the jurisdiction of local authorities.<\/p>\n\n<p>If the flight takes place in any of these areas, UAS operators subject to the registration requirement <strong>must <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/sede.interior.gob.es\/portal\/sede\/tramites?idAgrupacion=17\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">notify the Ministry of the Interior<\/a> of their flight <strong>at least 5 calendar days<\/strong> prior to the scheduled start date of the operation.<\/p>\n\n<p>Please also remember that for <strong>flying over or reducing minimum distances to buildings, in the open category<\/strong>, permission is required from the competent authority, the owner or administrator responsible for the building or stable construction.<\/p>\n\n<p>The aim is to guarantee people&#8217;s safety, protect property and ensure that operations are carried out within the legal framework. For many professional pilots, this obligation can become a real administrative challenge, especially when they are operating multiple drones or flights on different days. <\/p>\n\n<p>Although flight notification forms may seem simple, they require very detailed information about:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>pilot <\/strong>who will carry out the operation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>aircraft <\/strong>to be used.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>location<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exact flight <strong>dates and times<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Full description of the <strong>operation<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<iframe width=\"825\" height=\"500\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/gQQhP_X9ubs?modestbranding=1&#038;rel=0;loop=1;controls=0\" title=\"YouTube video player\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; This made managing multiple flights repetitive and prone to errors. <\/p>\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Royal_Decree_5172024\"><\/span>Royal Decree 517\/2024<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n<p>RD 517\/2024, published in June 2024, updates the previous regulations and adapts them to European regulations and EASA standards. Among its new features: <\/p>\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/javiergomiz.com\/en\/drone-operator-registration\/\">Mandatory registration of unmanned aircraft<\/a><strong>: <\/strong>any drone with an MTOM \u2265 250 g or with sensors capable of capturing personal data must be registered with the Home Office.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mandatory prior notification<\/strong>: flights over urban areas or gatherings of people must be notified at least five working days in advance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Operating categories<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/javiergomiz.com\/en\/open-category-civil-drones\/\">open<\/a>, specific and certified categories, each with specific training and authorisation requirements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Clearer penalties<\/strong>: failure to comply with communication or registration requirements may result in administrative penalties.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n<p>This decree reinforces the need for tools such as FlyForm, especially for professionals operating in urban environments or with multiple drones.
